The spring-powered airsoft guns are the cheapest form of the airsoft technology compared to the electric-powered guns or the gas-powered guns.
The airsoft gun then morphed into an electric version. The electric air-soft gun is powered by an electric motor that operates off of batteries. If the batteries go dead, the gun will not work. These guns are offered in automatic and semi-automatic versions. The automatic airsoft gun will continuously shoot, as long as your finger is on the trigger. The semi-automatic gun will shoot each time that you pull the trigger without having to pull a slide, bolt, lever, etc. The faster that you can pull the trigger, the faster that you gun will shoot. These guns are better for competition shoots than the single-shot design.
Nowadays, the airsoft guns have become even more sophisticated as there have been hybrid guns developed. These guns have a larger dose of reality mixed in. The plastic pellets are encased in shells. In other words, every time you fire the gun, a shell casing is ejected.
Airsoft guns are made for children 16 years and older. They are not for the younger generation and are considered to be dangerous. You can purchase these guns from a large variety of different stores, right along with the ammunition. They can cost as little as $50 for a replica pistol. The larger, assault-type rifles can cost upwards of a couple hundred dollars.
Airsoft guns can offer you a different form of recreational activity. Just make sure that you practice all safety precautions recommended by the manufacturer. You can have loads of fun; however, just remember to always be safe. It is still a weapon, no matter how you look at it.
