An ideal gift. Scented candles or wax tarts?

I have two children in school and I love to get the children’s teachers a gift at Xmas to thank them for all of their help and support during the year. I mostly steer clear of flowers, wine and chocolates, because I am aware of the fact that lots of gifts they are given are of this type.

Since finding Busy Bee Candles, I immediately thought of something along the home fragrance lines. But what could I give the teachers exactly? Scented candles? Well, I do not know what scents they like, and as I am quite fastidious with fragrances, I really didn’t want to select one they didn’t like. So my mind turned to the idea of making them up a gift pack with an oil burner, tea lights and a selection of scented wax tarts.

I ran the idea past Bradley and Megan and gave them full participation in the procedure. Bradley chose an orange colored one for his teacher and Megan (eventually, after asking her teacher what her fave colour was) chose a blue one for her teacher. I decided to get the same scented wax tarts for each teacher to avoid confusion and I left the selection of scents down to Busy Bee Candles. We ended up with three Xmas fragrances. Misteltoe, Xmas Fruitcake and Christmas Fireside and two non Christmas scents, Mango & Papaya Smoothie and Champagne & Strawberries.

I made up the gifts, buying a pack of tea lights, and splitting them into 2 Christmas gift bags so the teachers would have the complete kit, good to go. I did not see the point in just giving the tarts and the burner with no tea lights. I included 25 tea lights (based mostly on the fact that each Busy Bee Candles wax tart will last at least five tea lights, much longer than my prior candle brand, Yankee Candle), 5 wax tarts and the burner, all in a mid sized gift bag. Sorted. I did not wrap them up in Christmas paper, just popped them in the bag. Lovely.

Bradley was a little worried because although he’d queried his teacher about whether she was fond of candles (she does apparently, because they come in all sorts of scents) but he was uncertain she knew what to do with the burner. And well, I suppose if you have never used wax tarts, you won’t. So I wrote some brief “How to use” instructions and popped them in the box.

Wax Tart Burner instructions

1. Unwrap the wax tart and place in the topmost part of the burner.
2. Light a tea light and place underneath.
3. As the wax tart melts, the fragrance is released.
4. The scent will last for at least five tea lights before beginning to fade.

Both teachers approached me to express how much they liked the gift, so a massive big thanks to Busy Bee Candles for assisting me with the making of this fantastic teachers gift. I adore Busy Bee Candles far more now (If that’s possible)! Give them a try, you are going to love them too!
