Christmas is a stressful time for most of us. Not only do we have to deal with friends and family who we don’t choose to see, but we also have all the stresses of buying presents.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find something which is truly personal – but Christmas underwear will usually be a great success. If you are going this route, then more important than anything is to get the size right!

Buying Christmas underwear is full of pitfalls. Below I have detailed out what I believe to be the most disastrous. Read on the make sure that your gift is a success.

1. Make it special – If you want a present to be a success it has to be a little bit better than what someone would buy for themselves. To give you an extreme example, a multiple item pack of anything is unacceptable. Special is not just about the price tag – it is knowing that thought and effort went into the choice of gift.

2. Don’t go over the top – However much you may want to spice up the choice, you want the wearer to feel comfortable so don’t get too carried away and choose something which they will find acceptable.

This is a present, so think about the receiver – choose something to suit their personality as well as their figure. After all this is a present for them and not for you.

3. Get advice – If you have any doubts at all you should get advice. If you are buying from a specialist shop then there will be specialist staff who will have seen it all before. It is better to ask a couple of daft questions to a complete stranger than to get it all wrong on the day.

We are always taught that Christmas is a time of giving. Really it should be a time of giving the right thing, as this makes for a much better festive season.
