From May to August every year we celebrate the wedding season. These are the summer months and they are perfect for having a garden wedding. The garden wedding has always been a tried and trusted favorite for couples getting married, but this has expanded in the 21st century to even more unconventional venues such as the zoo, the beach, national parks, vineyards and other venues of the less traditional type.

Long summer afternoons provide the perfect excuse to have your wedding out of doors. You never know, you might be one of the lucky ones who gets a sunset on your special day. Having your nuptials blessed by the unexpected arrival of a sunset, would be the absolute perfect backdrop for your wedding day.

Keeping things simple for a garden wedding will ensure that it is elegant and everyone has a good time. Out of doors settings don’t require a load of expensive d?cor, they are already beautiful. Center pieces and flower arrangements with fruit and vegetables in them work very well and even a simple centre piece of sunflowers contained in tin watering cans look great when you place it on a table laid with gingham table linen. Lighting in your garden setting can be accomplished by means of candles, fairy lights or lanterns.

If the garden setting you choose for your wedding is in bloom, it will hardly be necessary to purchase flowers and this can save you quite a lot of money. Fresh cut flowers pensive, but with the correct garden setting you won’t need these. Remember that an alternative plan needs to be in place in case the weather is bad, so a Marquee may need to be hired and erected for the day.

Nature also has a way of creeping up on you if you are planning an outdoor wedding. So you have to take into consideration the fact that you may have a problem with flies, bees, gnats or mosquitoes. These can simply be kept under control by the use of citronella candles. They will add to the mood, they smell good and keep insects under control. Citronella incense sticks can also be used and these are available specifically for use in a garden setting. Citronella is a natural way to control insects and it actually works very well.

The evening is a good time for a garden wedding, guests are able to dress elegantly without being too casual, and there is no strict order of dress. The bride should also wear a simple dress that is not too long, and conventional wedding dresses do not really have a place in a garden setting. The bridal gown should be easy to manage and no longer than ankle length.

Summer is a time of heat and in many areas also humidity. This allows brides to wear a sleeveless dress and hair should probably be professionally dressed in an up style. This will ensure that it stays in place, the style looks elegant and will ensure that the bride is confident. The last thing a bride wants to do is fight with her hair because of hot humid weather.

A heavy traditional wedding dress will be hard to manage as well as hot. So take advantage of the summer weather and make use of a light summer fabric, a design that is sleeveless and never add too much bulk to your bridal gown.
