Zhu Zhu Hamsters Could Be The Best Selling Toy This Christmas

Based upon the current level of sales, it looks as if Zhu Zhu Pets are a hot tip for this year’s top selling Christmas toy. Zhu Zhu pets are a collection of five motorized hamsters which interact with each other, their environment and the children playing with them.

Mr. Squiggles, Pipsqueak, Chunk, Num Nums and Patches are the five Zhu Zhu hamsters. They each have their own unique personalities and character traits. They have two modes of operation – “exploring” and “nurturing”. All of the hmasters are available individually, with the exception of Patches who can only be obtained as an integral part of the “Hamster Starter Set”.

When in nurturing mode the hamsters react to cuddling and petting by making contented noises. Each hamster has its own characteristic sound and there are a total of forty different sounds spread across all the hamsters.

The hamsters like to run around when they are in exploring mode. They can either roam freely on a hard floor surface or explore their special hamster habitats. The habitats include things like tubes, tracks, sleeping areas, toys and games and these can be taken apart and then put back together again in various different combinations.

There are lot of different accessories for use with the hamsters. There’s a hamster wheel and tunnel, hamster garage, hamster funhouse, surfboard, sleep dome, adventure ball. It’s a long list of toys.

Children seem to love these little furballs. They are cute, they interact and the process of designing and building the hamster habitats in various different forms will stimulate their imagination and make sure that they don’t become bored.

Pets without the mess is the advertising slogan for Zhu Zhu hamsters – and you can see why many parents would see that as a huge plus point. There’s no need to keep them fed and watered and neither will you have to clean out their cage. Changing two AAA batteries once in a while is about as bad as it gets.

Because they are motorized and contain small parts, the Zhu Zhu Pets are not ideal for very small children. The target age group is from four to ten years of age.

These toys are going to be the next big thing (for a while at least). The manufacturer has released them at an ideal time, just enough time to build up a following before Christmas but not enough time for them to become yesterday’s news before the Yuletide gift season. If you know a child who would like one of these for Christmas then you would probably be well advised to get your order in well in advance.
